Learn More About Our Surface Heating Blankets

The Silicone Heating Blankets serve to heat tanks and surfaces in general. This is why they are widely used for heating products stored in tanks, silos, or glass flasks, repairs of composite materials or wind turbine blades, curing of concrete or resins, for manufacturing musical instruments or wooden furniture, in sublimation mugs and presses, in 3D printers, for heating presses and other machines and equipment in general, in addition, of course, to heating parts in mechanical workshops to facilitate the assembly and disassembly of components like bushings, bearings, etc.
The Silicone Heating Blankets are made of silicone reinforced with fiberglass fabric, a resistive wire, a fixation system according to the client’s process needs, with internal and external cabling according to the electric current, made with Teflon or silicone cable, and may have an insulation cover made of Cordura fabric, with external Nomex insulation and internal ceramic fiber insulation, a temperature controller, and a standard or industrial male plug.
They support continuous operation up to 250ºC (482ºF) and peaks of 300ºC (572ºF) for short periods of time. Furthermore, they can work in cold environments down to -40ºC (-104ºF), supporting negative peaks of -90ºC (-194ºF) for short periods of time. They are manufactured with an excellent insulating material that guarantees electrical insulation up to 20KV.
They are also resistant to humidity and chemical products, and are easy to clean. They are very flexible, allowing them to perfectly mold to their container or surface even if it is dented8. The silicone also has a good Shore hardness, which gives it a crushing resistance of 1kg/cm².
All fabrics used are fire-retardant (do not propagate fire), non-stick (easy to clean, which can be done dry with a cloth and alcohol), waterproof (can work in wet or outdoor environments), resistant to cutting and high temperatures.
The insulation cover used retains heat, preventing the Silicone Heating Blanket from losing temperature to the environment, as well as protecting the operator, allowing them to work close to the heated area, given that it insulates between 60 to 70% of the temperature, thus decreasing the risk of burns.
The Silicone Heating Blanket from Paulista Heaters has good durability with a considerable lifespan of up to 5 years working daily within the supported temperature range.
The Silicone Heating Blankets from Paulista Heaters can be controlled by a bi-metallic thermostat, analog thermostat (we use the IMIT brand), digital thermostat (we use NOVUS 321), or digital panel (we use NOVUS 1030 with PID function or NOVUS 1050 for ramp-soak control).
The following sensors or thermocouples can be used: J, K, PT100, PTC, NI 120 or another, both for temperature control of the Heating Blanket and of the product or surface to be heated by it.
The use of each type of temperature controller depends on the precision that the process requires and the thermal dissipation (W/Cm2) of the Silicone Heating Blanket. For dissipation up to 0.5 w/cm² a simpler controller like the bi-metallic or analog thermostat can be used; for dissipation up to 0.7 w/cm², a digital thermostat is recommended; and above that, the ideal is to use a digital panel. Remembering that the power is directly related to the temperature desired for heating.
The Silicone Heating Blankets from Paulista Heaters are of high quality, catering to small to large areas and containers since they are custom-made to suit each client’s process20. Their controller can be made according to NR10, we also have solutions for working in explosive areas with EX certification, and we meet international standards with CE certification and other required technical norms, according to client requests agreed upon in the quote21.
The Silicone Heating Blankets are widely employed in the pharmaceutical, food, chemical, and metallurgical industries, in workshops, restaurants, hospitals, and laboratories in general.
